Bourette Silk Yarn is a textured Italian silk noil yarn. Considered a wild silk and organic yarn.

Silk Noil is made from the short fibers taken from silkworm cocoons – either fibers that are naturally shorter or fibers broken by emerging silk moths.
Noil Silk Yarn may also be made using the shorter fibers that are leftover from the manufacture of other silk fabrics.

Rather than a continuous length of silk, these short fibers are used for noil silk, which has a slightly rough texture.Generally, it lacks the sheen of other silk fabrics, however it is stronger and has a better handle than cotton. It tends to have better texture and depth than cotton – and gives a nice fall and drape. This environmentally friendly yarn is characterized by its unique melange look.
